Interstitial brachytherapy as the sole treatment for tongue metastasis from breast carcinoma

Le cancer du sein donne plus fréquemment des métastases à distance au niveau osseux, hépatique, pulmonaire et cérébral. Cependant, quelque localisations sont plus rares et posent souvent des problèmes thérapeutiques pour trouver un bon compromis entre efficacité et faible toxicité thérapeutiques chez des patientes présentant des cancers évolués. Nous rapportons ici, le premier cas de métastase linguale d'un cancer du sein traité par curiethérapie interstitielle ayant permis d'obtenir rapidement un bon effet antalgique, un bon contrôle local avec une excellente tolérance.%Breast carcinoma metastasize more frequently to the bone, liver, lung and brain as compared to other anatomical sites. As such, advanced breast tumours with secondaries involving the rarer sites often pose when a therapeutic challenge for the clinician to find a good balance between offering the most effective therapy and its potential toxicity. We report the first case of tongue metastasis from breast cancer that was successfully treated with interstitial brachytherapy, resulting in good local control and no severe side effects.
