21世紀に入って国際化や情報化の目まぐるしい進展にrnよって，社会はより高度かつ複雑に変化している。現代rn社会が直面している諸問題を解決していくためには，課rn題を多面的・多角的に捉え，問題を解決していく能力がrn不可欠になっている。%In order to continue the sustainable development in the world it becomes more important for people to enhance the comprehensive ability to solve energy issues caused by worldwide economic growth, global warming and energy security. In this paper the present status and issues of energy education in Japan is mainly presented for junior high and senior high schools. Energy education is a part of comprehensive learning, but the amount of lesson hour is limited in comparison with other items such as local society close to pupil, welfare, carrier education, environment etc. Interdisciplinary approach as well as literacy of science and technology is required for energy education aiming at enhancing the ability to create a problem and to find a solution method and to derive a conclusion.
