摘要

America s Largest Classroom - What We Learn from Our National Parks (2020), edited by Jessica L. Thompson and Ana K. Houseal, introduces a collection of studies, experiences and initiatives from multidisciplinary perspectives and methodological approaches, that highlight the broad range of potential learning experiences in national parks. The book reveals that the park experience can offer much more than just a simple tour. It can provide unique educational moments and free-choice learning. The book is divided into five sections: Ⅰ. The long view of learning in the Parks; Ⅱ . Feedback loops: Systems and science learning; Ⅲ . Health and self: Empowering learning in parks; Ⅳ . Partnering for the next generation of learners; and Ⅴ. Strategic intention for park learning and practice. It is illustrated by vivid photographs of American parks and memorials, as well as visitors to these places engaging in different activities (e.g., paddling a canoe, climbing, hiking in the snow, making observations through a microscope).
