THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION'S DRAFT comMON EUROPEAN SALES LAW

Following the European Parliament's backing in - June 2011 of the policy proposal put forward by European Commission Vice-President Viviane Reding, the European Commission has itself now formally proposed an optional contract law regime for all of the European Union (EU) in the form of a Draft Regulation on a Common European Sales Law. The Draft Regulation is intended to break down trade barriers within the EU and stimulate European e-commerce by offering a single set of rules for cross-border contracts in all 27 EU countries.
