FACTORS INFLUENCING THE DEMAND FOR HEALTH INSURANCE: AN EMPIRICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE KLANG VALLEY AREA IN MALAYSIA

Health insurance is a program design to cover surgery and medical costs due to diseases and those who are insured, the payment will be directly pay to the healthcare provider like hospitals from the health insurance company. Malaysian encountered hard decision in spending for health care protection and it's also contribute to the future economic output. The objective of this research paper is to find the factors that contributed to the demand for health insurance in Malaysia. In this research, literature review discussed the topic of the research paper, which are health insurance and demand for health insurance. Secondly, defining element in the framework, which is income level, knowledge level, covers of medical treatment cost, and price of insurances. From the population, a total of 200 respondents were taken as participants in this study. The research was carried out in Klang Valley where the respondents are currently working around Klang Valley. In order to gather data required for this research, the researcher has distributed questionnaire to 200 respondents. Data was collected using questionnaires and subsequently analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine the demographic information of respondents and also multiple regression analysis for examining the relationship between independent and dependent variables.
