IASS-APCS 2006 SYMPOSIUM REPORT

The 2006 IASS Symposium and APCS Conference on "New Olympics, New Shell and Spatial Structures" had been successfully held in Beijing on October 16-19, 2006. The Opening Ceremony was chaired by Prof: John Abel and Prof. Rene Motro. An official announcement of opening was first delivered by Prof. Tien T. Lan, then followed by greetings from honorable authorities (Pei-Fu XU, vice-president of China Civil Engineering Society; Jun LIU, vice-president of China Steel Construction Society; Yi-Gang ZHANG, vice-president of Beijing University of Technology). A presidential address was given by Prof. M. Kawaguchi. During the opening ceremony, Prof. Tien T. Lan was conferred Honorary Membership of IASS due to his outstanding achievements in spatial structures and distinguished contribution to the IASS.
