摘要

While the eyes of the world were firmly fixed on London in 2012, with The Queen's Jubilee and The Olympic and Paralympic Games, 50 people working for BT were fundraising for a world completely at odds with that of 2lst Century London. Challenge Africa participant Emma Harvey from Openreach Escalations explains. Preparation for Challenge Africa (part of Challenge Worldwide; see page 19) began in April 2012. The aim was two fold: firstly, to make a real difference to the lives of struggling communities in Kenya and Tanzania, and secondly, through doing so, to develop business and personal skills. Challenge Africa focuses on key building blocks: the challenges of fundraising, culture & community and finally endurance. The first challenge was, therefore, for each volunteer to raise £3,500 for the cause. - overall achieving a fundraising total of £210,000.
