NO FLIES ON ARTIFICIAL EYES

European scientists have built the first fully functional miniature-curved artificial compound eyes. The eyes, based on the characteristics and functionality of the Drosophila fruit fly and other arthropods, is expected to help prevent accidents through its use in mobile robotics, smart clothing and medical applications. Possible future uses include automated vehicle guidance and the detection of other vehicles or pedestrians in close proximity.
