Symbolic Notations for Fuzzy Spatiotemporal Data Using XQuery

A considerable amount of spatiotemporal data emerging in spatiotemporal applications requires much attention on managing spatiotemporal data both from academia and industry. On the other hand, XML has several excellent characteristics due to its simplicity, readability, and portability. Although XML has been employed to manage spatiotemporal data, the study of spatiotemporal XML data has only recently started and still merits further attention. In this paper, we propose symbolic notations for fuzzy spatiotemporal data using XQuery. Temporal queries, spatial queries, attribute queries, and spatiotemporal queries of fuzzy spatiotemporal data are studied. Symbolic notations for fuzzy spatiotemporal data queries are proposed using XQuery. The proposed symbolic notations can eliminate semantic confusion caused by different forms of spatiotemporal query representations, and give a uniform representation of various types of queries on fuzzy spatiotemporal data.
