Effect of tree age and portions of Cassia fistula L. on variation of total extractives and its reactivity towards formaldehyde

Many previous studied have been focusing on medical values of Cassia fistula L. Therefore, in the current research methanolic extracts from different portions (bark, stem, leaf and root) from different age class, namely class A (2–3 years), class B (5–10 years) and class C (10–15 years) of Cassia fistula L. were studied for total extractives and its reactivity towards formaldehyde based on Stiasny Number test. Total extractives were mainly found in bark portion as well as Stiasny Number (%) value. Significant differences on total extractives and Stiasny Number (%) value associated to tree portions were found.
