The authors described the application of particle swarm optimization to parameter estimation of the nonlinear Muskingum model in their technical note. The model uses the following hy-drologic budget equation dS/dt=I-O (1) where I=inflow (L~3T_(-1)); O=outflow (L~3T_(-1)); S=channel storage (L~3); and t=time (T). Any one of the following three storage models is used.
