摘要

As one of up-to-date measurement technique, PIV techniques has been widely accepted and applied. There are a good many diffculties when it is implemented in complicated engineering, e.g., in naval hydrodynamics. Especially, it is quite a technical challenge to utilize PIV technique in large towing tank. This paper presents a brief overview of a large PIV system used in and outside large towing tank at the National Lab- oratory of Hydrodynamics, Wuxi, China. Several examples are given to illustrate the wonderful possibilities of using the PIV technique in hydrodynamics research.
