摘要

With reference to the undergraduate teaching of fluid mechanics, two main conclusions may be derived from this Forum. First, the use of a flexible approach for the selection and temporal conduct of laboratory experiments shows a promise of improvement in the learning process. Therefore, this idea, in spile of its logistical difficulties, is worthy of consideration. Second, peripheral material such as anecdotes, appealing analogies, and thought-provoking links to sports and life has an important place in a classroom. Indeed, it assumes a greater importance in the modern fast-paced, increasingly impersonal and algorithmic learning environment. Therefore, it should continue to be one of the essential roles of teachers in this study field.
