摘要

The paper contributes significantly to the comprehension of uni­form flow of non-Newtonian fluids, with important outcomes in the analysis of debris flow phenomena; further developments of the study may give instruments for the engineering of debris flow countermeasures. Many studies (Whipple 1997; Coussot 1994; Martino and Papa 2008) showed that discharges predicted assuming infinitely wide cross sections are far greater than the real ones. In the paper under discussion, the flow of a Bingham fluid trough triangular, trapezoi­dal, and rectangular cross sections has been simulated, and a di-mensionless friction coefficient (f) depending on cross-section shape, Bingham number (B), and width-to-depth ratio (β) has been evaluated.
