The dryer (2) has a rotatable drum (7) for treating drying goods e.g. textiles, laundry or textile coated mats, and for drying the goods by heated air flow. The drum is connected with an intake port of a ventilator (8). A supply air fitting (3) comprises pipeline units for limiting an induced draft fan through high pressure and flow losses in narrow cross-sections for increasing retention time of the air flow in the drum and for increasing heat and material exchange from air to the goods. A volume controller (5) is arranged in the supply air fitting. An independent claim is also included for a method for drying in a speed dryer.
