Richmond Offers Health Services to Residents through Resource Center

Officials in Richmond, Va., opened a resource center for basic health care and social support services in a public housing complex. The center will serve about 900 residents on the city's Southside, who are far from other medical facilities. The Hillside Court unit is the fifth of six large public housing projects operated by Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RHA) to receive a resource center of this type. Although it will be providing some basic primary care services, the broader goal of these centers is to connect residents with the community and serve as a "doorway into the health care system," Health District Director Donald Stern told the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
