DEVELOPING THE HALF MOON BAY SENIOR AFFORDABLE CAMPUS

AS a result of multi-partner collaborations and a guiding vision that was over a decade in the making, an underutilized 10-acre site in Half Moon Bay, Calif, has been transformed into an award-winning, master-planned senior campus with 264 affordable housing units and a newly built senior center and adult day health center. The integrated senior campus is one-quarter mile south of downtown Half Moon Bay, a small community located approximately 30 miles south of San Francisco in the coastal area of San Mateo County. Planning began in mid-2006; in 2009, the Half Moon Bay Senior Campus Plan received a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's "Building Healthy Communities for Active Aging" commitment award. With the final phase of the campus completed this August, a campus-wide celebration was held in November 2015.
