The method involves distributing, in each axial section of a heat pipe tube (5), a sintered metallic powder (8) in the shape of half-moon. The height of the half-moon is variable along a longitudinal axis of the heat pipe and is adapted to the characteristics of the heat pipe. The powder distribution includes introducing a predetermined volume of the powder into the tube, by placing the tube in horizontal position and by making it vibrate or roll mechanically. An independent claim is also included for a heat pipe tube.
