There was a fantastic consignment of top-quality heifers forward at Borderway, Carlisle, for the September edition of the Border & Lakeland Show and Sale. Trade topped at 3,000gns for the overall Champion to average £1,837 with 14 heifers selling for £2,000 or more. Less-than-favourable weather conditions over the previous weeks had a negative effect on trade with many milk producers concerned about the amount of crop still to harvest and a potential shortfall in winter forage.
