Leisure and death: an anthropological tour of risk, death, and dying

This is clearly an academic text that is aimed primarily at researchers and research students. What is possibly a little less clear is what type of researchers it is aimed at. Is it aimed at those involved with leisure studies, is it aimed at anthropologists, or is it aimed somewhere in between? I will say immediately that while I may not be entirely sure what kind of researcher I am, I am sure I am not an anthropologist. Rather, if I am most closely aligned with anything it is leisure studies. So, it is from this position that I have primarily reviewed Leisure and death and I freely admit that anthropologists may have a different take on the book. Reading this book has actually been a nice reminder for me of the limitations of cross-disciplinarity (even accounting for the fact that leisure studies is a multi-disciplinary meeting ground rather than a discipline in its own right). There are clearly times when there is nothing wrong with difference and we should not rush to remove those just for the sake of working across disciplines.
