UN Sub-Committee To Begin 2003/20O4 Program of Work on Packaging, CEN/ISO Standards, Criteria for Class 8, Limited Quantities, and Consumer Commodities

The United Nations (UN) Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods ("the Sub-Committee") will meet in Geneva in early July to begin its work for the 2003/2004 biennium. This will be the first of a total of four Sub-Committee meetings to be held during the biennium, with the remaining meetings scheduled for December 2003 and July and December of 2004, Immediately subsequent to the December 2004 Sub-Committee meeting, the amendments to the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (referred to either as the UN "Recommendations" or the "Model Regulation") developed by the Sub-Committee in the course of its four sessions will be forwarded to the full UN Committee for final approval and incorporation into what will be the Fourteenth Revised Edition of the UN Recommendations - and ultimately, implementation in the international modal regulations (e.g., the IMDG Code, ADR/RID, ICAO Technical Instructions) and national regulations on or about January 1, 2007.
