Certain Hazardous Materials Exemptions Incorporated into Regulations

In the January 24 Federal Register (70 FR 3302), the Research and Special Programs Administration published a final rule, incorporating into the regulations the provisions of certain widely used exemptions, and made minor revisions to the requirements for use of packagings authorized under exemptions. Periodically, RSPA (now the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration - PHMSA) identifies commonly used exemptions that have an established history of safety and may be converted into regulations.
