Q uestion: If you have a solution in which one component is a named dangerous substance under the IMDG Code, but now the other component is found to be environmentally hazardous, how should the solution be reclassified? An example solution is a 50/50 solution of aminoethylpiperazine and styrenated phenol. The first component is a Class 8 material and the second previously did not meet any classification criteria. But the second component has now been found to meet the newly adopted criteria for environmentally hazardous substances.
