The IMDG Code Criteria for Classifying Environmentally Hazardous Substances: Part Ⅰ

The EHS classification system is by far the most complex classification system in the dangerous goods regulations. Only reviewing the criteria as described in amendment 34-08 could give a mistaken impression. The degree of complexity cannot be fully appreciated when one reviews the almost one hundred pages of classification guideline material in Annexes 9 and 10 of the GHS. The text was written by experts and may prove difficult to comprehend for those not well versed in the aquatic toxicology field.
