Transport Canada Adopts Two Series of Amendments to its TDG Regulations and Proposes New Tank Car Requirements for Pre-Consultation

On July 2nd, 2014, Transport Canada (TC) published in the Canada Gazette Part Ⅱ (Volume 148, No. 14 pages 1778 to 1808 and 1945 to 1967) two final sets of amendments to its Transport of Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDG Regulations). The amendments became effective on July 14 and 15, 2014, with a six month transition period during which a person may comply with the previous regulations. On July 18, 2014, TC introduced a pre-consultation version of proposed additional changes to its new tank car requirements to enhance their integrity for selected flammable liquids and improve the efficiency of train braking systems.
