摘要

A distribution free, analytical formula was derived for estimating variation in heating phase lethality as a function of variations in all independent parameters. Additionally, a regression formula was developed for estimating the coefficient of variation of thermal process lethalities for a fixed z value of 10C as a function of statistically significant parameters. Although process lethalities included both heating and cooling phases of processes, no cooling phase parameter was among the statistically significant parameters. Sample applications of both formulae were presented together with the results of a sensitivity analysis performed using the regression formula.
