Role of chemical and sound communication in reproductive behavior of the saiga Saiga tatarica L.

摘要

Beginning from 1998, the saiga population in Kalmykia decreased 10 times. The de crease of the saiga stock occurring in the natural population required a study of different aspects of the saiga life activity, first of all of its reproductive behavior. The goal of this work was a detailed study of the role of chemical and sound signalizations in the saiga intrapopulation behavior at the periods providing reproductive processes.
