摘要

The scope of this paper is to develop a modified 2-part wedge analysis method, distinguishing the effect of wet liner interface shear strength from dry on translational failure of landfills. Using this method, a more truly safety factor can be calculated, and simply ignoring the difference of liner interface shear strength between dry and wet conditions will lead to serious overestimation. The safety factor decreases with decrease of wetted liner interface shear strength. An equation which can reveal the relationship of leachate level, interface cohesion and friction angle is proposed to evaluate safety factor in a convenient way. FS_(equ) (safety factor) can be applied directly in practice to replace FS_(cal) (safety factor calculated from FS_(max) and FS_(min)) because the upper bound of the difference between FS_(cal) and FS_(cqu) is no more than 6% for all considered cases in this study.
