ANALYSIS OF SIGNIFICANT WAVE HEIGHT FOR THE BLACK SEA BASIN USING AVISO SATELLITE ALTIMETER DATA

The present paper describes an analysis of the significant weight height data, performed for the Black Sea basin. The data used originate from the satellite altimetry measurements available for a period of 9 years and comprises the 2010-2018 period. The altimetry database from which these data were taken and processed is AVISO (Archiving, Validation and Interpretation of Satellite Oceanographic Data). This paper proposes an analysis of the daily, monthly, annual and inter-annual variation of the significant wave height parameter, using exclusively the satellite altimetry data. The obtained results bring a contribution with regards to a better insight into the characteristics of wind waves, using the satellite altimetry instruments, complementing the understanding of the phenomena that take place within the ocean environment, in general, and within the Black Sea area, in particular.
