The current environmental legal framework in the People's Republic of China is under serious evaluation. Legislation proposed for enactement over the coming years is expected to establish a considerably stricter environmental systems, in which local Governments and foreign and domestic companies will have to comply with a wide Range of complex, new environmental standards. Against this background, most Inudstry branches will feature more complex pollution control compliance require- Ments which will increase on the one hand the demand for technologies involved in The recovery, treatment, recycling, and disposal of solid and hazardous waste, on the Other hand the demand for equipment to monitor air and water quality.
