摘要

Biological monitoring of industrial workers exposed to toluene and xylene ahs been performed by the estimation of hippuric acid (H.A.) and methyl hippuric acid (M.H.A.) in urine. The H.A. and M.H.A. level was found elevated in all the exposed workers. The exposure to toluene was found more than xylgene in the workers as evident by the percentage increase in the excretion of H.A. and M.H.A. level; however, these urinary metabolites are affected by several factors as age, alcohol and smoking habit, duration of exposure and working conditions.
