By 2007, plasma display panel (PDP) TVs will dominate the market for flat-screen TVs measuring 50 inches or larger, according to forecasts. PDP TVs will account for 54 percent of TVs in the 50-inch class, up from 12 percent in 2004. Projection TVs, which in 2004 made up 88 percent of TVs in the 50-inch class, account for 40 percent of TVs in the same class in 2007. Meanwhile, LCD TVs will account for 6 percent of TVs in the category. The forecasts come from Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. Samsung SDI released these projections at SID International Symposium 2005 (SID 2005), an electronic display show that took place from May 24 to 27 in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States. Other manufacturers have also released market projections that predicted similar trends.
