In a situation where the market in general is considerably shrinking due to a drop in the prices of flat panel TVs such as liquid crystal and plasma TVs, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has been rising against the competition, and is showing brisk sales performance in rear projection TVs in the U.S. during the first half of the year, mainly in its 60-inch and bigger models. Mitsubishi has captured a strong position in the U.S. rear projection TV market, and its products have gained a reputation as "Mitsubishi large-screen TVs." The TV sales of Mitsubishi in the U.S. focus on rear projection TVs.
