LactMed: Drugs and Lactation Database

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) introduced LactMed, the Drugs and Lactation Database, in 2006. It is part of NLM's TOXNET system (Toxicology Data Network) and provides information on drugs and/or chemicals to which breastfeeding mothers (and thereby their infants) may be exposed. This column will present information on the content of the database, its structure, searching hints, and its links to supplemental information.
