In addition to the special section on social theory in LIS, guest edited by Laurie J. Bonnici and Manimegalai M Subramaniam, this issue includes the JELIS 2009 Satisfaction Survey and two research articles. The JELIS 2009 Satisfaction Survey, by Sung Jae Park and Janet L. Capps, clearly indicates that we have our work cut out for us as the first year of our editorship comes to its close! While the ALISE Membership Survey (2008) provides evidence that the association's members value their JELIS subscriptions, the JELIS survey indicates a very small percentage do more than quickly skim each issue prior to shelving it away indefinitely. As your editors, it is our goal to make JELIS the hub of the conversation about education in our dynamic and evolving field, but we need your help.
