摘要

The hispathological changes are observed in the tissues of the digestive gland of the estuarme edible clam, Mactra violacea (Bivalvia) when exposed to Tributyltin oxide (TBTO) at acute (0.275 ppm) and chronic (0.11 ppm) exposures. The tissues damages like vacuolation of digestive cells, hypertrophy of the nucleus and atrophy are observed which are due to the toxicity of TBTO accumulation in the digestive tubules. The histological alterations observed in the TBTO exposed M. violacea are related to the time of exposure and the dose of the contaminant.
