Economic Education in U.S. High Schools

The best and perhaps only opportunity for improving the economic under- standing of all youth occurs in high school. After all, only about 63 percent of high school graduates enroll in colleges and universities (National Center for Education Statistics, 2000, Table 185), and among those who do, only About 40 percent take even one college course in economics (Siegfried,2000).
