This short book (107 pages including numerous tables and figures) contains a wealth of information regarding income and consumption trends in levels and inequality in the United States over the past three decades. The treatment is decidedly nontechnical; in fact, no equations appear in the text with only a few included in appendix material. Given the authors' usually clear interpretations of the numerical results they present, this makes the book accessible to an extremely wide audience.
