By all accounts, David Neumark and William Wascher are important pillars in the existing literature on minimum wages. In terms of sheer volume, David Neumark is probably the most prolific economist to have written on the topic- with more than thirty published articles and countless manuscripts, reports, and briefs written for advocacy organizations. The topics within this area engaged by the authors are similarly numerous-including the effect of minimum wage laws on employment, schooling, poverty, interaction with other policies such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, and more. From the perspective of the discipline as a whole, and especially those of us who are active researchers in this area, it is very useful to have a single source "[synthesizing nearly two decades of their own research" as noted in the cover of their book.
