Keynes on the Wireless brings together the scripts of all the broadcasts made by John Maynard Keynes - all but one from the British Broadcasting Corporation - in his career of economist and commentator. Twenty-one broadcasts cover the two rather dismal decades between January 1925 and July 1945: decades marked by Britain's depression since the return to gold and by the great international slump of the early 1930s, - "[w]e live miserably in a world of the greatest potential wealth" (p. 112), Keynes observed in a conversation with the American journalist Walter Lippmann on the eve of the 1933 World Economic Conference - decades in which re-armament was used as the main "means to prosperity"; but also the decades of Keynes's heresy and revolution.
