Transnational Modern Design Histories in East Asia: An Introduction

摘要

All four articles in this issue represent concrete developments of design history studies in East Asia. On the one hand, they are grounded in solid research into local primary sources and case studies. The authors are writing empirical histories and identifying their own national and local positions, while offering their own perspectives. This is a part of uncovering and recognizing people, companies, events and systems that constitute design history and practice in each region, which is an invaluable contribution to expanding and understanding design histories in the wider world beyond Euro-America.
