Reciprocal space mapping of epitaxial MgO films on SrTiO_3

X-ray measurements of an epitaxial MgO film grown cube on cube on a SrTiO_3 substrate are presented. Symmetric and asymmetric area maps have been combined to present a map of reciprocal space for a slice of the limiting shpere containing all h h l refelction visible by Cu K_α radiation. The asymmetric reflections show that the MgO film has grown completely relaxed. For reflections near, but outside, the edge of the limiting sphere for Cu K_α radiation, additional symmetry information has been obtained by using CuK_β radiation.
