Extended Sentences for Domestic Violence Offences

On 29 April 2009 the appellant pleaded guilty to four offences at the Westminster Magistrates' Court. The first offence was a battery carried out on his wife on account of his, apparently unfounded, suspicions that she was adulterous. During the incident he strangled his wife with a long scarf until she was close to passing out. Although she received no physical injuries, his wife was very distressed by his actions.
