The Multiculturalism Backlash. European Discourses, Policies and Practices

In political science, anthropology and sociology, cultural identity and diversity are fundamental issues which come to the fore after the 9/11/01 attacks, especially in the multicultural context of European integration. As the decade draws to its close, The Multiculturalism Backlash provides a timely and revealing assessment of European multiculturalisms. The publication springs from events funded by the EU Framework 6 Programme (p. 28). Through a Canadian expert's global discussion about multiculturalism followed by seven local European case studies and a final comparison with the Canadian prototype, the volume highlights the survival of multiculturalism, with its potential and limitations.
