PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for hybrid-text summarization. PSOLUTION: A technique is provided which divides the text into classified discourse components and couples discourse components into structural representations of discourse. A technique for determining a hybrid structural summary of the text and a hybrid non-structural summary is also provided. The text is divided into at least one principal discourse component, including space-time information about a single event in the world view considered, on the basis of the theory of discourse parsing. Discourse components are next inserted to structural representations of discourse. A non-structure technique is used for determining relevance scores, and important discourse components are determined. Relevance scores are caused to penetrate through structural representations of discourse, in order to determine supported preceding discourse components maintaining grammaticality.
