摘要

Richard T. Gray is a well respected researcher on Nietzsche, Kafka and especially the late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century literature and culture of Germany. In the text at hand he brings to bear his comprehensive knowledge on German texts and society of the time period, juxtaposing economists with literary authors and their works. The first part of this book analyses economic theories and theorists, including Adam Muller, Johann Gottlieb Fichte, Johann Georg Schlosser and Johann Heinrich Jung-Stilling. The last chapter in this part deals with the reception of French physiocratic thought in Germany. Overall, this is an especially valuable undertaking, as many of these texts have not been translated into English.
