This book was written between 2005 and 2007, focusing on Putin's presidency of the Russian Federation and western views of his presidential style. The prologue outlines the objective of the text, namely to provide a balanced analysis of the country's history, in order to place President Putin within the context of a third vision for modern Russia, following those of Gorbachev and Yeltsin.
