The key debate that this book addresses is the longevity of racialised political and social ideas, bolstered by science (and pseudo-science), in twentieth-century Britain, Did the Second World War and the horrors of the Holocaust put an end to the interwar penchant for eugenics and halt the tide of fascist-leaning politicians and intellectuals who adhered to a racialised typology of humankind? Or did racial science and the discourses of racial difference persist for longer than has been previously recognised?
