Obituary: In Memory of Ki-Yul Uhm

We were greatly saddened to hear that Ki-Yul Uhm, who served as an editorial board member, passed away on July 20, 2010. Uhm was the managing editor of Journal of Communication Inquiry from 1994-1995 when he was a doctoral student in the mass communication program at the University of Iowa. After completing his degree, Uhm taught communication law and media policy at Kangwon National University of Chunchon and Daegu University in South Korea, his home country. Uhm was a great supporter of the people's right to know and argued that citizens need to be adequately informed in order to actively engage in politics.
