塗膜の防食機能

Recently, the amount of structures such as bridges, roads, oil storage base and oil-drilling platform in our society has rapidly increased. On the other hand, the costs related to corrosion are increasing year by year due to the shortage of countermeasures against corrosion. Every year, the corrosion losses in Japan are around 40,000 million yen. (about 480 million dollars.) We would therefore like to explain the corrosion mechanism of steel and then go on to discuss the anti-corrosion mechanism of coatings for steel materials. The functions needed for a paint film to provide anti-corrosion properties are explained, with special attention paid to the requirements for actual painted structures.%近年，橋梁・道路・石油備蓄基地・石油切削設備等に社会資本投入が活発である。一方で，これら設備の対策不備による腐食村策rn　費は年々増大している。日本における腐食損失は年間3兆9769億円と報告されているl）。そこで，本稿では，鋼材の腐食機構および防rn　食法の一つとして多く使われている塗料の防食機構について解説する。すなわち，防食機能を発揮するための塗膜の基本特性と，実rn　構造物において塗膜が充分に機能するための実用上の注意点を説明する。
